FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

My playlist is longer than 22 minutes per side (over 44 minutes total) but I don’t want to cut a song. What are my options?

If you have a longer playlist you can consider a few options depending on how much your playlist exceeds the limit per side.

If your side is just a little longer than 22 minutes, we can cut sides up to 23 minutes but please note the audio is compromised after 22 minutes.

If your playlist is longer than 44 minutes you could choose from a “3 sided set” (one album is two sided, the other is one sided) or a full double set of 88 minutes total.

The shorter the side, the better the audio so having less music over more territory will only improve the end result.

My playlist is very short, does that mean there will just be silence after the music up to 22 minutes?

No. We only lay down the grooves for the music you send in so once the music ends, the lead out groove will follow and the record will “end” when it reaches the end of the groove.

We only add long silences by request.

What file types do you accept? Why can’t you use my Spotify or Apple Music playlist?

We can use any legally purchased song file that is an mp3, m4a or .wav from Bandcamp, iTunes or Amazon.

We cannot use streaming files because of the format.

How does lathe cut differ from a pressed record?

Lathe cuts are not as loud as pressed records (but that can be solved by adjusting the volume on the player) and there can be more distortion in the bass. For more info on lathe cut audio quality, see

Can I add a voice memo to my record?

Yes! Just send it in with your song files as if it is a song file.

What is the difference between 45 RPM and 33 1/3 RPM?

The record speed can be either 45  or 33 1/3 revolutions per minute. Most people cannot hear the quality difference between a 45 and a 33 1/3 RPM record but some do so if you want the best possible sound, choose 45 RPM (note the max run time for 45 RPM is 14 minutes per side).

Can you make more than two copies of my mixtape vinyl record? What about my own music?  Do you offer short runs?

We cannot make more than two copies of a mixtape record in most cases but there can be exceptions if you purchase the song files every two records, have permission from the artist/label, own the rights, or using audio in the public domain.

If you are an artist/label our sister company offers short runs, including an on demand service. Contact us for more info
